A Contrarian Philosophy
This week’s post is philosophical and controversial so I would love to hear your comments.
Let’s start off by defining what contrarian means.
Wikipedia defines contrarian as a person who takes up a contrary position, especially a position that is opposed to that of the majority, regardless of how unpopular it may be.
In other words, you think and do the opposite of what others do.
When people zig, you zag.
When people go left, you go right.
You do the opposite of the majority.
Law of Cause and Effect
Have you ever wondered what you should do so that you achieve the success you want?
First, we must understand the Law of Cause and Effect, which states that our actions determine our results.
If you eat healthy, then you become healthy.
If you stay focused and work your business, then you will achieve the success you want.
Alas, the decisions that we face every second rarely seem that easy to make.
How do you know whether you are making the right or wrong choice in your daily actions?
What if there was one secret or strategy that helped you make the right decisions for your daily challenges?
I’m going to share a simple blueprint that will help you choose the actions that lead you to success.
Follow it, and you will be rewarded with things that others can’t get.
Ignore it, and you will end up like everyone else.
My Contrarian Philosophy = My Success Blueprint
I get asked constantly what the “secret” to my success in the MLM Profession is.
It wasn’t one special skill or strategy that helped me become one of the top income earners.
Instead, it was my philosophy.
A philosophy creates the foundation for what you do. How you think, and who you spend time with ultimately determines your outcome.
So do you have a winning philosophy?
When I started my entrepreneurial journey, I looked around and noticed 80% of people were not someone that I would consider to have achieved “financial success.”
There is nothing wrong with these people, and many of them are great human beings, but they didn’t have what I wanted.
In other words, I would say to myself, “I don’t want to become like them.”
They didn’t fit my definition of success and what I wanted in life.
I also started to notice the people that do the things that most people do also fall into the same 80% category.
They are the masses and just average people.
However, I wanted more, and I didn’t want to become like them.
Returning to the Law of Cause and Effect
If you don’t like the outcome of something, you have to change the actions that led to you to that outcome.
If you don’t want to end up like the 80% who comprise the masses, then you must do things differently. If you do what they do, you will end up like them!
The biggest lesson I learned early in my career as an entrepreneur is that, in order to achieve different results, I had to do different things.
The easiest way to determine how to be different is to do the exact OPPOSITE of what most people do.
That is my contrarian philosophy.
It’s that simple.
Just do the opposite of what everyone else does.
This simple contrarian philosophy works because, if you do the same things that everyone else does, then you will get the same results.
How to Apply My Contrarian Philosophy
You can apply this philosophy to anything.
The only way I may even consider watching it is if NO ONE is watching it.
If people at the water cooler are talking about the weather, that just means that it’s more important that you don’t waste any more time following the weather.
If most people are logged onto Facebook throughout the day, that means you should log onto Facebook only a few times a day.
If the masses reply to emails when they receive them, that means you should never reply right away. You should have a scheduled time to check emails.
Apply This to Investing and Marketing
If everyone is buying the “hot” stock that the media is hyping, you’ll make a lot more money if you resist the urge and sell your shares now.
If everyone is doing a certain type of Facebook advertising, then it’s in your best interest to look for something that no one else is doing.
If everyone adds hype into their MLM advertising, then you’ll be more effective by using less hype.
The examples go on and on, and the beautiful thing about my contrarian philosophy is that you can apply it to anything.
You Will Get Rewarded for Being Weird
The masses won’t like you.
They will say you are weird because they won’t understand you.
If that happens, that means you are on right track.
If you look at the successful people in history, everyone who was successful and remembered in history was considered weird in their time.
Whether it was Jesus Christ, Abraham Lincoln, Henry Ford, Napolean, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, etc., none of these historical figures were considered normal in their time.
They were all weird and contrarian.
The next time you are not sure what you should be doing, ask yourself, are you spending your time and energy doing the things that most people do, or are you being weird?
If you want to be successful, it’s simple: Do the opposite of what everyone else is doing.
When others zig, make sure you zag.
It has worked for me, and it will work for you as well.
