How to Get Good at What You Do
There were 2 birthdays last week.
I turned a year older last Thursday. Thanks to all of you who took the time to post onto my wall.
I didn’t do anything special.
Just the same thing; workout in the morning, take Ethan to school, take my other son to the baby gym, lunch with friends and getting ready for my events in New Zealand, Australia and Los Angeles.
The 100th Episode
There was another birthday last week which I was more proud of.
Last week was the 100th training session I conducted for each one of my weekly MLM coaching programs; Insider’s Circle (for everyone) and Advanced Diamond Mastermind (for advanced leaders).
For each of those training programs, I do a special 90 minute training webinar every week.
If you add up the numbers for both programs, I have done a total of 200 webinars and over 600 hours of live webinar training!
The ironic thing is that my MLM Training business all started out by chance and was unplanned.
Back in 2012, hundreds of people would message me each week and ask for free advice. It was hard for me to say “no” but unfortunately it took up so much time that it wasn’t fair to my family and business partners.
But how I can just turn down people?
So my business partner suggested that I charge people $250 an hour for my time and that is what I did.
I didn’t expect anyone to actually pay, but to my surprise, some distributors actually forked over the money for a 1 hour phone call with me.
I did a few of those calls but wasn’t comfortable doing them. I felt that it was IMPOSSIBLE to turn around someone’s MLM business in just one hour.
In order to be successful, people need accountability and consistency. That’s the reason why I created my weekly MLM training programs Insider’s Circle and Advanced Diamond Mastermind back in Sept. 2012.
And 2 years later, we are still going stronger than ever.
Both the Insider’s Circle and Advanced Diamond Mastermind have grown. I’m proud to see the growth of all the members.
There has been numerous rank advancements. It has allowed me to live my purpose driven life of having a positive impact on as many lives as possible.
Thankful and Grateful
I have a long term vision to help more MLM distributors succeed in their business with my NO BS NO HYPE MLM Trainings.
I want to thank my team for buying into my vision and working with me to fulfill my vision.
Special thanks to my wife Kelly for her support and to Scott, J, Cara and Oky.
I also want to thank the following current members Insider’s Circle and Advanced Diamond Mastermind that have been with the group since we started in episode 1.
Your faith in me has rewarded you with personal growth. It has also provided me the satisfaction in seeing you grow.
It’s been a great win win relationship.
Special thanks to:
Nancy On
Christina Tseng
Patrick Yap
Josie Tong
Randy Johnson
Maria Sierka
Guillermo Ponce
Hoyyee Chee
P.K. Ong
Howard U
Binx Villegas
And lastly, special thanks to everyone in the current Advanced Diamond Mastermind.
Mentoring and coaching this group has been super rewarding. I’ve not only seen these MLM leaders grow their businesses but also create foundations for a second income stream through establishing their own coaching programs, ebooks, personal branding, etc.
Lastly, thanks to all current Insider’s Circle members. Our weekly Monday night trainings at 10pm EST are a total blast. I love all your great attitudes and watching you grow.

How You Can Be Good at Anything
At a recent training event, I was approached by a MLM leader. She was impressed at how my trainings and blogs had improved over the years.
I was flattered and thanked her but I said getting better shouldn’t be a surprise.
It wasn’t because I was smart or better.
I got better simply because I was CONSISTENT!
If you combine the 100 sessions I did for Insider’s Circle with another 100 for Advanced Diamond Mastermind…
that is a total of 200 sessions or over 600 hours of live training I have done in the past 2 years!
Any dummy can be good if they do the same thing over and over again. 🙂
Which brings me up to this week’s topic on how you can get good at anything.
Here are 7 tips you can apply.
7 Steps You Can Get Good at Anything
If you are impatient, you may have skipped to this part so I’m going to give you 7 things you must do to get good at what you are doing.
These 7 steps I implemented to grow my MLM Training business are the same steps I used to grow a MLM Business that has over 70,000 distributors in over 18 countries.
Step 1: Have a Big Vision
You must have a big vision.
When I started my MLM business, I always had a vision to grow globally and not just be stuck in LA.
As a result, I expanded my business to over 18 countries.
With my MLM Training business, my vision is to provide the best NO BS NO HYPE MLM Training out there. Conducting over 100 episodes of live training proves that I’ve done it.
The best part is that you will see even more events and more resources coming in the next 6 months
Step 2: Take Consistent Action
Don’t worry about not being good at what you do.
Take action and just do it!
I always had a vision to grow a global business. When I first went to Hong Kong, I didn’t worry about not knowing how to grow a global business nor whether my Chinese language skills were good enough in Hong Kong.
I just went out there and started to prospect!
Same thing goes for my MLM training business.
I didn’t know everything about successful coaching in 2012 but I’ve learned a ton in my journey.
If I was still studying to learn how to do it, we would still be stuck at episode 1 and not episode 100.
But just taking action alone is NOT enough
You must be CONSISTENT with your action
It doesn’t matter what you do, whether it is playing an instrument, sports or prospecting, if you don’t do it consistently everyday you are never going to be really good at it.
That’s why doing the 5 Core Production Activities in your MLM business is so important.
You MUST have consistent action!
It’s also why I do MLM coaching and training EVERY SINGLE week and the only weeks we skip are during the Christmas holidays.
The consistency makes both our members and myself better.
Step 3: Track Your Numbers
What doesn’t get tracked will NOT get improved.
You must track the numbers such as how many people you spoke to, how many people you enrolled, how many training sessions you did, etc.
Do you track your daily 5-5-3?
One great example of tracking is how I tracked my 100th training session.
Asides from knowing how you are doing, tracking also inspires and motivates you.
Without numbers we feel lost in our journey.
Step 4: Be Coachable
Success starts with humility and understanding that you don’t know half the things you need to know to become successful. If you did, you would have already achieved the success you wanted.
The late John Wooden said, “It’s what you learn after you know it all that counts.”
That’s why being opened minded and realizing that you have TONS to learn is important for your success.
In my 10 plus years in MLM, all the “know it alls” have never been successful.
You must approach your business with an open mind and be willing to learn new things.
Step 5: Invest in Self Development
There is no excuse of not knowing what to do or not being good at MLM skills.
There are plenty of MLM training resources available.
The best investment you can make is not in stocks, mutual funds or real estate.
Your best investment is in YOURSELF.
Self development was the secret to my MLM success.
I would also read and listen to audios everyday. I continue this habit today.
Even before I wrote this blog post, I read something that helped me become a better writer so that I could learn more from this post.
Step 6: Surround Yourself with People Better Than You
Even if you know a lot and have tremendous experience, the reason why success has eluded you is because you are viewing the challenges from the wrong perspective.
The problem is never the problem but how you are looking at the problem.
That’s why I invest in Masterminds and have a coach. I want to continue to grow.
The people you surround yourself with can give you a different perspective on your problem. Solutions are visible once you see things differently.
That’s why your income is always the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with.
If it wasn’t for my Mastermind group and how they encouraged me by sharing different ways to look at my challenges, episode 100 would not have been possible.
Step 7: Attend Events
To accelerate your learning and success you must attend events.
That’s why going to your company’s annual convention is so important and also why you should attend as many events as possible.
Events not only bring you the best training but they put you in a positive environment with people that will bring you up instead of dragging you down.
I’ve been busy preparing special trainings for my Implementation Bootcamp in Sydney and also my NO BS NO HYPE TRAININGS in New Zealand and Los Angeles. So make sure you attend those events.

What is Your Next Milestone?
I’ll be working hard on providing more MLM Trainings to more distributors from different countries.
100 episodes is a lot but I’m just getting started. I already have episode 200 planned out.
But let’s talk about you now.
What is the next level you want to achieve? What action steps are you planning to get better?
Take a minute to grab a pen or write this on your phone/tablet. Answer these questions:
What is your vision?
What do you plan to track?
What do you need to take action each day?
What do you need to learn and get better at?
What is the next self development you plan to do?
Which new group of people you plan to surround yourself with?
Which events will you be going to in the next 12 months?
Write them down and then take action on them. Within 12 months, not only will your business grow but you will personally grow more than you ever have before.
I’ll be working hard to get to episode 1000.
Please comment below and let me know what do you plan to get good at?
