Daily Dose of Gratitude
One of the happiest times during the holidays are gift exchanges and the joy of giving.
Making people happy is a great feeling.
But what if you could make someone happy all the time?
I’m going to share with you the one of the things that makes me happy everyday.
The best part is that it makes others happy as well!
It’s the gift that I give everyday.
Some of you may have received it already.
If not, just wait and it’ll be your turn soon.
It’s my Daily Dose of Gratitude that I give every morning.
Daily Dose of Gratitude
Every morning, I take 5 minutes and randomly select someone that I appreciate in my life.
And then I go and send them a quick message (either text, email or Facebook message) for how I am grateful to know them and appreciate them.
I don’t make it just copy and paste. I take the time to list out specific things that I remember so that the message becomes personal and not generic.
I’ve been doing this for over 6 months now and it’s been one of the best things I’ve done.
Here are a few reasons why I recommend you start doing this.
1) You Start off the Day Feeling Great
When we take the time to be grateful, it makes us happy and realize what we have.
Gratitude destresses us and takes our mind off the things that worry us.
Plus, it just FEELS GREAT to make others happy!
2) Takes Only 5 Minutes a Day (or less)
There aren’t many things in life where you can make someone super happy in less than 5 minutes
The hardest part is after you’ve been doing this for awhile to come up with NEW people to be grateful and appreciative of.
I’ve been doing this for almost a year and so far haven’t repeated anyone yet.
Which leads to the next reason…
3) Trains Your Brain to Remember Those That Have Helped You
We all have so much to be grateful for but often we let life get in the way and forget what others have done for us.
It’s not easy to come up with someone new EVERYDAY.
You really have to force yourself to constantly think back to the people you know and how they have helped you.
The secret is every time I think of someone to immediately write that person down on a list.
This way you don’t have to start with a blank slate each morning. You just refer to your checklist.
Just the act of forcing yourself to reflect on the people in our lives that have impacted us makes this exercise worth it.
4) Great Way to Stay In Touch
It’s also a great way for you to network with others.
My goal is to NOT repeat anyone during entire year and this made me realize that I have NOT done a good job of staying in touch with many of the people I know.
The reason is because it’s awkward to send someone a gratitude note when you haven’t communicated with them in over 10 years.
So what this has made me do is every time I think of someone in the past that I am grateful for, I would connect with the person first.
It has helped me keep in touch with my network better.
And then after a few weeks have passed, I would go and then send my Daily Dose of Gratitude.
Give Your Daily Dose of Gratitude Today
When people thank me for surprising them with my Daily Dose of Gratitude, I simply ask them to return the favor and send it back to someone they are grateful for.
We are all busy and life can seem overwhelming at times so everyone enjoys a quick message of gratitude and appreciation.
Start doing this today and make someone feel good today.
It’s the best gift you and give to someone and to YOURSELF.
So who are you grateful for?
