Proud and Happy
My brother doesn’t even know I’m going to share this story about him…
but heck, I’m going share with you in anyway.
I know this is the Christmas season and Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus but this is not meant to be a religious message.
So whether you are a Christian or not, please pay attention to what I’m going to share about my brother.
It’s kind of weird writing this because I don’t even know if I ever told this to him face to face. You know, sometimes guys are not good with emotionally touchy feely things.
Anyway, if I never told him face to face, now he can read it here.
How Do You Answer This Question?
Here is a question that was not easy to answer.
A few years back a mentor challenged me to think of 3 things that I was most proud of.
It was the first time someone had asked me that question and it was much harder than I thought.
At the time I had some success in my MLM business and my immediate answer was the rank and income I had achieved but I felt so lame by saying it.
If my happiest and proudest moments was simply about me, then I am pretty pathetic.
Then I thought back to any other awards such as being one of the top chess players in high school or winning basketball trophies but I also didn’t feel good mentioning those.
Again, none of those accomplishments DESERVE to be in the top 3 and if they did, it meant I had a pretty unfulfilling life.
Then it came down to this.
The number one most proudest moment that I had was sharing Christ to my younger teenage brother and helping him turn his life around.
At the time my brother was hanging out with the wrong crowd and was at his third high school in three years.
He was doing all types of things that was stressing out the entire family.
Material punishment didn’t work.
He even got kicked out of the house and had to live with my grandparents… but that didn’t work.
Finally, one day I took him to church and shared the Gospel to him.
He was skeptical but he eventually accepted Christ and started to hang around with the right kids and changed his life around.
He went from straight F’s to straight A’s and got into a good college.
Today he is an awesome father to 2 healthy boys living near the San Francisco area.
I didn’t do much but I did share the message and somehow that message got him to make positive changes in his life.
And that is my proudest moment.
When I told my mentor this, I learned a valuable lesson that day.
What makes us proud and happy are NOT the awards, achievements or money we make but how we help others.
If your proudest moments are just about yourself then you have failed to live a meaningful life.
And that lesson I learned is the reason why I do what I do.
After reading the Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren I realized that my purpose in life was to “have a positive impact on as many lives as possible.”
And that’s why I choose to do MLM because MLM is not about the selling or prospecting.
The real business is about helping others achieve what they want in life.
That same purpose is also the reason I love coaching and training.
It makes me happy to see others achieve what they want in life.
That’s why I am proud and happy about.
Nancy On
Most recently, I’m super proud of one of my Advanced Diamond Mastermind members, Nancy On.
If you don’t know her, she was a boba tea girl that has learned how to build a successful MLM business.
She was the youngest person to advance to Diamond Director (earned minimum of $16,000 USD in a month) in her MLM company.
The cool story about Nancy On was that she comes from a not so flattering background.
She was the black sheep in her family.
One sister goes to UCLA and the other one was valedictorian and went to Harvard while she was working minimum wage as a boba tea girl!
But Nancy On had desire and heart and that goes a long way.
When I first met Nancy, Nancy wanted to make an even bigger impact and asked me to help her with her blog and branding.
She had the vision to coach and teach others to become successful.
Everyone says they want to achieve success and set goals but sadly most aren’t willing to do the help to make it happen.
Nancy On is different and that’s why she is a great leader.
Nancy wanted to start a blog and before you know it, she made it happen.
She later achieved her goals and launched her own Coaching program.
I mentored her and provided some guidance but she did the rest.
And then Nancy felt that she had even a bigger message to share.
She wanted to let others know how she uses social media to grow a successful MLM business.
So I suggested that if she really wanted to get her message out to more than just her coaching members, she should come up with a training course that anyone can purchase.
And then last week she did it!
She launched her Social Media 202 product and I highly recommend it.
Why?
Not only because Nancy On knows the ins and outs of social media…
but more importantly, the training course provides you proven message templates that you can just cut and paste and send to prospects!
It also includes free future upgrades and that alone is worth it since social media changes so fast.
Anyway, enough about Nancy and her training product.
I just wanted to share that I’ve been proud of Nancy.
She has created a following, started her own blog, created her own coaching program and launched her first training product! 🙂
I was able to provide the guidance and advice but she did all the hard work and seeing her success makes me happy and proud.
