Nick Martinez’s Journey Into Network Marketing
Nick Martinez was living what many would call a dream life. He was an airline pilot, working as a first officer for a commercial airline. But despite the steady income and prestige, something was missing—he lacked control over his time, income, and future.
Like many pilots at the time, Nick was surrounded by colleagues who had side businesses. He always had an entrepreneurial spirit, having started a lawn mowing business as a kid and even getting his real estate license at 20.
Then one day, while flying with a fellow pilot named Corey, he was introduced to network marketing. Corey painted a vision of leveraged income, explaining how Nick could build a business while still flying. Intrigued, he took the idea home to his wife, who was skeptical but supportive. She told him to go for it, knowing the worst that could happen was losing $400.
That was March 31, 2009. From that day forward, Nick never looked back.
Nick Martinez’s Tough Start and First Breakthrough
Excited but inexperienced, Nick struggled for his first 30 days. He didn’t enroll a single person—until he visited his parents in Colorado.
During a family hike, Nick talked nonstop about his new business. Eventually, his dad, likely to stop the conversation, pulled out his credit card and became Nick’s first customer.
It was a “pity sign-up,” but it gave him momentum. That same night, his friend Corey celebrated the sale and told him he was going to crush it.
A week later, Nick attended his first network marketing event, 90 Days to Success, in Salt Lake City.
Seeing people making $15,000 to $20,000 a month opened his eyes to what was possible. He realized that he had been treating his business casually instead of taking intentional action.
With this new mindset, he leveraged his old real estate connections and booked his first real presentations. By late May, he had signed up a few real estate agents. That small win gave him hope that he could make network marketing work.

Nick’s early years were filled with rejection, procrastination, and doubt. He often found himself hesitating before making calls, finding excuses to vacuum, mow the lawn, or do dishes instead of reaching out to prospects.

In 2012, Nick attended an incentive trip to Turtle Bay Resort in Hawaii.

He decided that even if it took him 10 more years, he would stick with network marketing until he achieved that same level of flexibility.
