Winning the President’s Award
Last week I was in Salt Lake City, Utah for our annual International Convention, and I had a great time. Like other successful leaders in network marketing, I go to Convention every year, but this one was extra special.
It was super memorable not only because of the amazing announcements and the production quality of the entire event (along with the free iPad I received), but I won 6 awards, including the prestigious President’s Award for being the #1 distributor who had grown their business the most in the last 12 months.

NOTE: In my speech above, unfortunately I left out Ken Ong from Malaysia because I was running out of time and had to rush things… sorry Ken!
Success is NOT Easy
Success is not fast and neither was my journey.
When I went to my first convention almost 10 years ago, I won no awards and came home empty handed, but I was motivated by all the successful people from different backgrounds that succeeded, and said to myself, “If they can do it, I can do it.” All I had to do was to change and model myself after them.
My success was NOT easy, and I advise you to be skeptical and cautious if anyone promises you something that is fast and easy.
Network marketing is definitely an easier route to financial success than working at a job. Instead of working 40 years and not even being financially free at that point, you simply have to work a few years and you can achieve financial freedom.
So it’s only 2 – 3 years of hard work versus 40 years.
But those 2 – 3 years will be HARD WORK and probably the MOST DIFFICULT and LIFE-CHANGING YEARS of your life.
It’s Not About the Trophies nor the Money
So now I have 6 new trophies… and some money… BUT SO WHAT?!
The rewarding part of my achievement is NOT about the materialistic things I can buy nor the recognition.
Instead, success is about growth and the person I have become.
Money is spent and gone… trophies get old and rust or lost…
But we never lose what we learn nor who we become.
Personal growth and the person that you become throughout the journey is what makes success so enjoyable.
And that is what makes MLM so rewarding. It allows each one of us to grow and fulfill our unlimited potential that we are all born with.
We become a new and better person!
Success is a Process
You have to be patient. Success is about changing constantly and growing non-stop. You don’t change your goal, but you change your habits, mindset, strategies and daily activities. That is the requirement for success and the only way to achieve your goal.
Changing your goal is too easy. It’s a trap, and it leads to nowhere.
Instead change YOURSELF.
There are NO Shorcuts
Many unsuccessful people do the opposite, and they want the shortcut. They blame the company, the products, and the situation they are in. They jump around from opportunity to opportunity, and when things don’t work out, they either quit or blame the opportunity.
Blaming is easy. Changing is hard.
Instead, they need to blame themselves. Don’t change the opportunity… change YOURSELF.
Embrace the Challenges
The only reason I was able to win the President’s Award is because of the numerous personal and business challenges that I had to overcome in the last 18 months.
Without those challenges, I would still be the 2010 version of Simon. And the 2010 version would never win the President’s Award. I had to change in order for my results to change.
