Teaching the 3 Pillars of Marketing to Stacey Terrasi and Kevin DaSilva

This past week went by so fast, but at the same time it seemed to last forever because so much has happened.

I just finished five days of Platinum Week.

Platinum Week is part of my intense network marketing coaching program where motivated distributors invest $5,000 and spend five full days (over 40 hours) watching how I run my business, learning from me the whole time. During the entire week I was being observed and teaching how I work at maximum productivity.

It was a lot of work and a TON of fun. It was an amazing experience for me because I got introduced to an entirely new world of people that I have never worked with before.

My student was Kevin DaSilva who had been following my trainings for quite some time and reached the rank of Director in his network marketing business. In a short time he has built an organization of over 100 distributors already.

After I went through Kevin’s application and accepted him, he drove over four hours from Phoenix to study with me in Los Angeles.

I must admit that I had some initial doubts before we started.

It wasn’t because of my coaching ability…

It was because Kevin is DEAF!

Entering an Entirely New World

After Kevin was accepted, the first question he asked me was whether he could bring his girlfriend to interpret for him. For most clients, I would allow only one person to come, but in this instance, I said, “Of course!” For me, it was a relief she could come since she would interpret for us.

Without an interpreter, how in the world would I be able to communicate with Kevin?

But still… I was worried that the training would not be as effective, or we wouldn’t be able to cover as much material because of the communication issues…

This was the first time that I had extensive interaction with a deaf person. The first few hours were kind of awkward, but by the second day, I was used to it already. There wasn’t really any communication breakdown or “time lost” due to interpreting.

Fully Utilizing All Our Senses

What I realized was that Kevin was way more perceptive and attentive to his other senses (for example, visual) to make up for what he did not have (hearing).

When I showed Kevin how to create online marketing campaigns to help generate leads for his MLM business, he picked it up more quickly than most hearing students would. He could also read facial expressions and “read my mind” better than anyone I had ever met. It was impressive.

After the awe, I started to think of how we take things for granted. People that can hear are “lazy” with our other sensory powers (such as visual observations), because we rely on our hearing to “bail” us out. It makes me wonder how much of our unlimited potential is untapped.

When we fully maximize all of our five senses (auditory, tactile, visual, taste, olfactory) we get to communicate at our maximum level. Kevin had to maximize four of his senses to make up for his lack of hearing.

If I could focus on using my other senses better, like Kevin, I would be an even better communicator!

Great Students Make Teaching Fun

During the week we covered topics such as:

– How to increase the number of prospects you can talk to;
– Determining your target niche market;
– Building your online prospect list;
– How to create an online “lead magnet” (an “irresistible offer” to grow your list);
– Website design;
– How to write effective blogs that attract prospects;
– Different ways to create online content;
– The three Pillars of Marketing;
– How to run weekly team trainings;
– Creating Duplication in a Network Marketing organization;
– Keys to effective prospecting,

And much more…

Going over online marketing strategies to generate leads (prospects) for his network marketing business

The reason I said the week seemed to last forever is because Kevin grew a lot in the five days.

In just five days he went from an “online novice,” who had no direction to his marketing, to having a website created and a strategic online marketing plan for the next 90 days. He picked up things quickly, and his growth was impressive.

Though we were together for only five days, it was intense and his growth made it seemed like we were together for six months. We got so much done everyday, and it was kind of weird not to have him around today!

When you have a student that is motivated and applying things quickly, it makes teaching enjoyable and fun. Kevin has huge potential, and his application of what he learned is very impressive.

He will become a highly successful network marketing leader soon.

I miss him already.

I Admire Deaf People

It was a rewarding experience to work with someone who is deaf. I learned a lot about the challenges and life of a deaf person, and developed a desire to help them.
I believe network marketing is an awesome opportunity for the deaf because, unfortunately, due to their handicap, many deaf people don’t have many other career options. MLM allows the deaf to earn an income that many would never be able to earn at the jobs that they can get.

I really enjoyed my week with Kevin, and started to learn some sign language as well. It was pretty cool, and I look forward to meeting and hanging out with Kevin and his deaf friends.

Inspired by Kevin

Kevin DeSilva
The “Deaf Entrepreneur”

Aside from helping Kevin, I was also motivated by him. Here are some things we can all learn from Kevin.

Kevin’s Persistence

During the five days we were together, I learned that Kevin had met many influential people (for example, Jerry Colangelo, President of USA Basketball Olympic team) by simply being persistent and cold calling their offices. He would get shot down, but his persistence eventually led him to have 1 on 1 meetings with them.

All Leaders Are Readers

It was no surprise to me that Kevin is also well read. Like they say, All Leaders are Readers.

If a Deaf Person Can Do It, What Is Your Excuse

Kevin’s hard work and persistence has helped him build a network marketing business that has over 100 distributors throughout the USA.

That alone should inspire you.

If anyone ever tells you, “Network marketing does not work,” you should tell them to get in touch with Kevin.

If a deaf person can be successful in network marketing, then ANYONE can be successful.

When people fail, it is not the fault of the company, nor the products, nor the team. It always has to do with the person. You have to have the right attitude and master the 5 Fundamental Skills of Network Marketing.

If a deaf person can do it, then what is YOUR excuse?

Sincerely,

Simon Chan
