Toughest Time in My Life
Last week I shared something personal and told you about my diaries.
Now that I did that, I feel like sharing about the recent craziness in my life and writing a “diary” entry for this week’s blog.
These past few weeks have DEFINITELY BEEN ONE OF THE TOUGHEST WEEKS in my life.
Yes… I have many problems too.
The only thing success and more money guarrantees is that you will have MORE and BIGGER problems to solve.
But first… some great news.
Cause even though times are tough, there are a lot of great things to be grateful for.
The Great News! Many Firsts…
Let’s share some great news. It’s been a very eventful week.
There were a lot of “firsts.”
My Android App is Now Available
The Android version of my iPhone Network Marketing Training App is now live and available to install onto your Droid devices.
And if you like it, please give me a nice rating. 🙂
Jogging with Ethan
I also finally put Ethan’s jogging stroller “to use” and used it for running along the beach.
When you are a full time Daddy, that is the ONLY way I could get my workout in.
I went for 4 miles and I thought it would be awkward having to push and run but it turned out ok.
Most importantly, Ethan enjoyed the experience and we talked as we ran.
I taught him the importance of exercise and the different types of exercise as we ran past people like biked, jogged, on rollerblades and surfed.
Birthday Parties
There seem to be birthday parties every week for us to go to. I guess that is the life of a parent.
Ethan loves them now because he knows that is the ONLY time he gets to eat junk food like “cake.”
We’ll be going to our 3rd birthday party in 4 weeks this coming weekend. I guess more cake for Ethan!
Trilingual Ethan!
My little boy is also starting to speak Cantonese now!
We only speak Mandarin to him and he learns English from school but he picks up Cantonese from the daily conversations between Kelly and I and also with my in-laws.
He surprised me the other day when I asked him what’s his name in Cantonese and he replied back!
In the last 4 weeks I had to take Ethan along for my daily walks with Obi, and I’ve learned to really enjoy the time.
It used to be my self development time but now it has turned into Ethan’s daily language class. 🙂
I am super grateful to have a wife in Kelly who understands the importance of having your kid speak multiple languages. Kelly isn’t a natural Mandarin speaker but worked hard on learning the language for Ethan’s sake.
Talk about a great mother!
Don’t tell her I said this cause it will embarass her but I caught her singing Sesame Street in Mandarin the other day. 🙂
Super Saturday Training in Long Beach
This past weekend I also had the honor to speak at a huge training event in Long Beach.
I want to thank all the leaders for putting this together since this is very important to the growth of our network
marketing organizations.
The Most Challenging Time in My Life
Now, let’s talk about the tough times…
It’s been extrememly challenging to balance life as a full time Daddy and also pursue my dreams and finish this BIG PROJECT I’m working on.
This BIG MAJOR PROJECT is due soon and you will all know about it by May.
As always, what started out as fun has been a nightmare and causing extreme stress.
Things are never as smooth and easy as you want them to be.
One of the things I have learned over the years is to be the “Pessimistic Optimist.”
That just means to expect Murphy’s Law to be true.
That “whatever that can go wrong will go wrong.”
But at the same time I’m an Optimist because I know I will be successful and get the end result I want.
It’s just that many things will go wrong before I get to the finish line.
Extrememly Out of My Comfort Zone
Part of the reason this BIG PROJECT is causing extreme stress is because I have never done something like this before. I am going into unchartered waters.
But I guess that is the fun and challenging part and what made me want to do it.
The only reason I have not “quit” yet is because I know that as long as I apply and focus, I can do it.
Now it gets worse…
The added pressure comes from the time commitments that are required when you are a full time Daddy.
Doing something you have NO experience is tough enough but what makes it worse is that my “work hours” is cut down because I have to (and I want to) take care of Ethan.
It’s ironic that one of my Coaching members recently asked me how to balance network marketing with a children and a full time job.
All I know is that I was able to make the balance and become successful before so I can do it again. 🙂
This Makes Me Feel Better
Last year when I won the President’s Award and people asked me how I did it, I replied that the last 12 – 18 months were the toughest times.
Now I laugh back to that remark because the last 3 months has been EVEN TOUGHER.
What makes me feel better is that 6 months from now, I will be able to laugh this off after I have successfully overcome another obstacle.
I will be able to enjoy the personal growth and memories from this experience.
I feel good cause I know I am PUSHING myself and making myself better and every successful entrepreneur has to go through this.
I had to go through tremendous stress and pressure to get to where I am already… and in order for me to go after my new dreams, I must continue to persist through these new challenges.
Feeling Overwhelmed
Sometimes I feel so overwhelmed that I ask myself how much longer can I go.
But I’ve learned that as long as I keep my mind focused and listen to motivational audios and read positive material, I can do it.
I pushed myself through these barriers and surprise myself each time.
Just when I feel that I can’t go anymore, I make it.
And YOU can do the same!
It’s like Roger Bannister becoming the first person to run the 4 minute mile. He pushed and pushed and he did it.
Not only did “he” pushed, but you can say mankind pushed himself to the limits because once Bannister ran the 4 minute mile, dozens of other runners were able to overcome the mental barrier weeks later.
Note that I say it is a mental barrier and not physical because all the other runners did not change their bodies overnight immediately after Bannister did it.
It was their mindsets that hold them back.
Their bodies did not change but their mental approach changed and that allowed them to run the 4 minute miles weeks after Bannister did it.
So that is my consolation and motivation.
I know whatever challenges I have are all mental. And as long as I persist, I will overcome them.
I will break my 4 minute mile barrier!
Are You Pushing Yourself?
The last thing that makes me feel good is that as I push myself to the limits, each day I am growing and getting better.
My mindset is getting stronger and I am getting more experienced in the game of solving life’s problems.
Like someone said… everyone has problems. Only a dead person doesn’t have problems.
It’s natural for us (including me) to complain about our problems but that will do nothing for us. We just have to learn how to solve our problems and get better.
It’s just the latest puzzle that life has thrown at us to solve.
The more money you make, the more problems you have.
Are you facing tremendous challenges?
What is your mental approach to solving them?
Sincerely
Simon Chan

Jane Gomez says
Perhaps people might think why some of us are not earning any more esp. me. i just had enough of earning. i think of Whitney houston….what levels of success she reached…but than she become drug addict….broken marriage etc. and she become completely broke. Then she tried to come back….and tried to perform, but she did miserably in Australia…..her voice broke….and finally she just slipped away in the bath -tub. For me to be greedy….i have to work so hard…..right……..and i can just slip away like that. i get so exhausted even with kitchen work….and anyway i figured out i have enough money. It is not a millionaire’s life but just a moderate, comfortable life. As long as I have food enough to eat and roof above my head……i should feel good enough.
Many people think i am very strong….but i have reached the end of my rope……it is hard to explain……but i feel extremely tired. and i enjoy staying at home. i have a number of hobbies…i do some tailoring. some reading and spent time at the You-tube. so i like this pace.
