Do you REALLY understand the importance of time versus money?

Everyone says TIME is important and “Time is Money” but do you REALLY understand how Time is Money?

Read this if you are not 100% sure whether you are really treating Time as Money.

I want to share an experience that will help you.

The Lady with the Disgusted Look

I met this nice lady in Los Angeles a short while ago and she was interested in a network marketing home based business to help her generate some part time income. She eventually never got started and today is in same rut and same place in life with no improvement. I wish I could have helped her but sometimes people need to take action and take the first step.

But the reason I remember her was because of this specific facial expression that she made. She was very friendly and had a huge smile 99% of the time but it was that 1 time that she gave me this scowl that made her memorable.

I am going to share with you this experience and I hope you learn a very lesson on the importance of time and opportunity.

Everyone says that “Time” is important and the only thing you can never get back… but what I have found it that most people do NOT really understand the importance of TIME and MONEY and that’s why they are stuck where they are in life.

She liked to travel and I shared with her how with a home based business, you can have option to expand globally and enjoy the benefits of international travel.

Her immediately question was “Do you pay for the travel yourself?”

I replied, “Of course, yes!” and smiled.

She returned my smile is a scowl and disgusted look as if paying for your own travel was the worse thing in the world. She expected our company or someone else to pay for the travel. And years later, her ugly facial expression and the way she reacted still stand out in my mind.

I am NOT surprised that today she is in the same rut and same place in life as when I first met her years ago because…

She did NOT understand the importance of TIME and MONEY.

Why I Prefer to Pay for My Own Travel

I have my own home business so when I travel, I pay for my own travel.

And I PREFER to pay for my travel because when I pay, I control my time.

When a company pays for your travel, they control YOUR TIME.

There is no such thing as a free lunch!

When I used to work for the NBA (National Basketball Association), the NBA would pay for my travel and controlled my time. I had to show up for meetings and be at certain places at specific times and accomplish the purpose of my trip. If I did not accomplish the goal of my trip, my boss would not be happy when I got back. The NBA was always nice enough to give me some time to see some sights but normally this was when the big meetings were over and I was tired. I never had the time to meet people outside of work and seek out lucrative financial opportunities because my daily schedule was filled with mandatory company events.

Benefits When you Pay for Your Own Travel

Let’s just look at a recent trip that I took to Sydney where I paid for my own travel. I got to

– wake up whenever I wanted
– go jog and tour the city anytime I wanted
– have time to go surfing

Most importantly, because I controlled my own time:

– I had time to meet people and created new business opportunities
– I had time to sit in the beautiful Darling Harbour and work on creative projects (nature is always an inspiration)

My new projects and the people I met will easily make me more money than the cost of my travel!

When You Control Your Time, You Control Your Destiny

The lesson here is TIME. If I had a company pay for my travels, I would NEVER have had the time to write my book nor meet the business people I wanted to meet because my daily schedule would have been packed with company meetings. In this situation, the most I would get for my valuable time would be the cost of the trip itself; but nothing more.

I would have lost time and LOST OPPORTUNITIES that I could never get back!

You can GET back Money but you can NEVER get back Time

Whether it is 1 day, 1 week, 1 month or 1 year, once Time is lost, Time is LOST. You can never get Time back but you can always gain money back. The key to successful millionaires is they know how to use their time wisely to work on opportunities and new projects.
