Returning Back to Orlando
Childhood Memories of Orlando
One of my goals as a father is to create lifelong memories for Ethan. I do as many things with him as possible; some he will remember, and some he may not.
For the events that he won’t remember, we have timeless pictures to look at when he gets older.
I’d like Ethan to remember special moments, just like the way I recall how my parents took me to Disney World when I was three or four years old.
I don’t remember much about that first trip to Orlando except that we stayed at a hotel near the water and took a few outdoor pictures. I don’t recall going to Disneyland, nor the rides, but for some reason I do remember how my mom got so excited that she could buy and eat mangos in the USA!
I grew up in NYC, and during those days, you couldn’t buy a mango at a typical grocery store or fruit stand. If you really shopped around, you might find one, but it would cost ten times the price of what you would pay for one today. You simply could not get mangos in NYC!
My mom loved mangos (She still does.), and I think she bought a dozen of them in Florida. She would eat them in the hotel room everyday.
Those are my memories of my first trip to Orlando.
Back to Orlando
I went back to Orlando this past week for four days for a big marketing conference.
I went there to network and also to stay updated on the latest offline and online marketing strategies.
It was very motivating to be in a large room with more than 600 small business owners, almost all of whom had million-dollar businesses.
I love going to these events because it is a getaway from the negative world that we live in that is filled with complainers.
Characteristics of Successful Business Owners
These entrepreneurs all had a winning attitude, and had three things in common with me:
1) Accepting Responsibility for Results, Refusing to Accept Mediocrity
They know that the only person who can create the future they want is themselves, not a job or a boss.
They also know that a job is not more secure because of the “benefits.” They know that they are not “missing out” as business owners.
They are fully aware that the only way for them to create the life that they want is by their own hard work and entrepreneurial spirit.
2) Entrepreneurs Don’t Complain
Another obvious characteristic is these business owners do not complain.
They don’t complain about the taxes…
They don’t blame the economy… (In fact, more successful businesses are born during recessions than during good times. If you don’t believe me, just check out Facebook. Facebook was founded and became profitable during one of the worst global financial recessions in modern day history.)
Entrepreneurs don’t give reasons why things don’t work…
They are the opposite of 80% of the people out there because they aren’t struggling paycheck to paycheck.
3) Refusing to Accept Failure
Another motivating trait is that entrepreneurs refuse to accept failure and settle for a job.
Story after story, entrepreneurs admit that they had to struggle, or even went bankrupt, before they “figured out” the formula for their success.
But no matter how tough things were, they never quit.
My Self-Realization
I discovered something about myself in Orlando that I never realized.
There are always unforeseen circumstances. In this world you never know what may happen to you. Literally, anything can happen.
Hopefully this would never happen to me, but if I ever “lost it all,” I would rather beg than go to get a job.
I would crawl or beg… but I won’t settle for a job.
A job would be too demeaning for me. It would be an insult to my beliefs. Most importantly, a job would mean that I would be the free bird that once again had to live the rest of its life in a cage.
My life would be miserable.
The American Dream is Still Alive
The good news is that the American Dream is still alive.
It has changed, however.
If you are looking to achieve your goals in life through a job in America, your dream is dead upon arrival.
That dream ended 30 years ago.
The only way you can get the American Dream is through a business that you own.
And thanks to my fellow entrepreneurs, the American dream is alive and well.
Go Thank an Entrepreneur Today
If you have a job, go thank an entrepreneur because if it weren’t for him or her, jobs wouldn’t be created.
Entrepreneurs sacrifice their skin and risk their necks everyday to grow their businesses and spur the economy.
As a result, jobs are created.
Just think… if Mark Zuckerberg didn’t create Facebook, what would his 4,900 employees be doing today? (Mar. 2013). He basically created jobs out of thin air.
Are You Living Your Dreams?
Are you frustrated and want more in life?
Do you feel that you job is limiting your potential?
If you want to learn how to create your future just like I did ten years ago, then I highly encourage you to look into a business opportunity.
If you are already in a network marketing business, then it is in YOUR best interest to stay focused and to NEVER quit until you reach your passive income goal. You have taken the first steps toward freedom, so don’t let any negativity or setbacks distract you. As long as you stay on the path, you will get there.
Work harder and work smarter and… never, never, never give up.
Sincerely,
Simon Chan
