I recently got this question from a leader in Melbourne, Australia who asks for advice on how to approach a “S” prospect (Successful Business Type) who refuses to meet him for a meeting.
I’ve started began to invite my (S) type of prospects.. from the successful category.. and I’ve had one who is a pharmacist and club organiser. During the Invite he did not wish to come out for an appointment face to face.. He wants me to email him anything that he can read through to see if its something he’d pursue before sitting down and discussing with me.
I’ve never really come across this so I wouldn’t know what to send him, but ensuring I don’t give him too much at the same time.. He is a very analytical person, and likes to be the person behind the scenes.
Dealing with Prospects Who Refuse to Meet You
There are 2 ways I would approach this.
I prefer option 2 so you can skip to that unless you want to read Option 1.
1) Setting Appointment to Followup with Video
Send him a video with the company information but ONLY after he agrees with you a specific appointment time where he can give you 5 minutes to tell you either
a) not interested
b) interested but have questions
Having him agree to a set time BEFORE you send the video will save you time. And also increase your posture
Make sure the video is brief. No one has time to watch something that is long. And make sure never send more than 1 piece of info in 1 email. It is always better to send one piece of information followed by followup and then send more information on a different email.
2) Disqualify Him!
This is what I would do. 🙂
I prefer to be in control.
If he refuses to meet, then I tell him that I can’t give him that opportunity.
I explain to him that before I do business with anyone, I must meet them and get to know them first. I don’t do business with strangers so I would not waste time to write an email with someone that I have not met before. The meeting is mandatory and part of the interview process.
By the way, we don’t get to choose who we work with at our jobs but the best part of network marketing is that we get to CHOOSE who we work with. And the selection process begins with the first interview meeting.
Remember, the MORE desperate we want, the more people run away.
But the more we push people away, the more they come to us!
It’s all about posture and confidence.
So if he doesn’t want to meet, then his loss. He is not qualified!
