It’s been a long long time since I wrote… the crazy thing is that it doesn’t seem that long but so much has happened!  So many adventures!  Since April, I’ve been to Vancouver, Philippines, Malaysia, San Diego, Santa Barbara, New York City and Boston!

jacob and obi
My brother’s family came to visit us in March. My nephew Jacob is growing up big now and has hit “terrible 2” stage. Jacob loves Obi and always wants to play with “woa woa”… until… Obi corners him into a wall!
wine tasting
SANTA YNEZ, CALIFORNIA – Wine tasting with good and new friends
Simon and Kelly at wedding
April was the month of weddings! We went to 3 weddings on 3 straight Saturdays! (1 in LA and 2 in Vancouver). Here is the first one; a nice outdoor wedding in Huntington Beach
wedding no. 2
Wedding #2 was in Vancouver’s Downtown Club; a very very classy place.
wedding no.3
Fortunately wedding #3 was also in Vancouver so we only had to make one trip. Kelly was a bridesmaid and we saw Kelly’s bridesmaid Joyce Poon get married. It was a nice big Chinese banquet.
manila training
Next trip was off to the Philippines! I stayed in the Manila area for a few days. Here I am doing training for Juan and Lyka Dela Fuente’s team
Simon and Connie
Destination Hong Kong! – had great dim sum with my “little sister” from Malaysia, Connie Mooi.
hongkong team xlr8
HONG KONG – Team photo of TEAM XLR8 at USANA’s Asia Pacific Convention. The big announcement was USANA’s entry into the China market! This is the opportunity of a lifetime that I have been waiting for!
usana in china
USANA opens in China! – this is soooooooooo exciting. I am looking for people are interested to earn some extra income and who either can speak Chinese or know people that speak Chinese. If you know someone, please let me know!
Simon and marcus
HONG KONG – had a great time with one of my best friends Simon Lam. I love giving his son, Markus these big hugs!
macbook pro
New Macbook Pro! – after I got back to Los Angeles, my #1 priority was to get a new Macbook Pro 17″ i7! (right) I had my old G4 (left) for over 4 years and I loved it… but it was time to move on and get something faster and more efficient. Talk about Apple quality. I’ve never had any problems with my G4 and 4 years later, it still runs!
simon at malibu
MALIBU – I went here for my church’s summer conference. Had a great time to reflect and also fellowship with my brothers and sisters. It was held at Pepperdine University. Look how beautiful the campus is! (right next to the Pacific Ocean). Good thing I didn’t go there cause I never would have studied!
obi and simon
We love Obi! This was a great picture of Obi and I and I had to put it in here. Btw, Obi is so popular that he now has his own Facebook Fan page now! Go become his fan!
home renovation
HOME RENOVATION – we’ve also been busy the last few months with home renovations. We had a ton of things done such as recessed lighting, crown molding, base molding, new paint and new furniture. This is our dining room.
living room
LIVING ROOM – I love our living room with the recessed lighting and the new wooden beam. This is my favorite room in the house
home office
HOME OFFICE – This is my new home office! You like the new paint and new furniture! The new big desk makes a huge difference. The next upgrade will be Apple’s 30″ HD monitor!
Kelly and obi at boston
BOSTON – We went for a quick trip to Boston… and of course, we took Obi along! This is near Quincy Market
Simon, kelly and obi
MARTHA’S VINEYARD – I took Kelly for a quick 1 day trip to Martha’s Vineyard. It was relaxing. Life there is so different from California! It’s been over 10 years since I was at Martha’s Vineyard and going there brought back a lot of memories
with Simon's parents
NEW YORK CITY – it was good to spend time with my parents. My parents loved Obi. I can’t believe that my parents would love a dog so much!
with cindy
HOBOKEN, NEW JERSEY – catching up with my elementary school friend Cindy. I’ve known her for over 25 years! It was good to see her happy with her 2 healthy kids
with ashley
EDISON, NEW JERSEY – of course we had to take Obi for his semi-annual dates with Ashley! Those 2 dogs love each other and can play nonstop for hours! This is a rare photo of BOTH dogs looking at the camera!
dinner with greg
MAPLEWOOD, NEW JERSEY – had a great dinner with my good friend Greg Calvosa and his wife Angel at the “Above” restaurant.
wedding
NEW YORK CITY – we were all very happy to see one of my great friends, Ray Moran, get married to Theresa. Extremely happy for them… they had an awesome wedding. To me, there are only 3 things that are important in a wedding: 1) great music 2) good food 3) open bar… and Ray & Theresa aced all 3 of these in their wedding!
at wedding
The great things about weddings is that there are tons of opportunities to take pictures! Isn’t my wife beautiful?!!

One thing that has been consistent is my self development.  Been reading a ton of great books… and I must thank the speed reading book that I read in March; Breakthrough Rapid Reading by Peter Kump .  If it wasn’t for that book, I would not have been able to go through so many books and learn and applied so much.  This is what I have read in the last few months:
1) Talent Is Overrated by Geoff Colvin
– one of the BEST BOOKS I have read.  It breaks down what it takes to be really successful?!  What does it take to be a true superstar in what you do?  Everyone wants to be great but not many are willing to pay the painful sacrifice to do it
2) How to Sell Anything to Anybody by Joe Girard
3) The Presentation Secrets of Steve Jobs by Carmine Gallo – this is one of the best public speaking / presentation books that I have read.  It is a MUST READ for everyone that speaks in front of groups.
4) Fire Them Up!: 7 Simple Secrets to Inspire Colleagues, Customers, and Clients; Sell Yourself, Your Vision, and Your Value by Carmine Gallo
5) 10 Simple Secrets of the World’s Greatest Business Communicators by Carmine Gallo
6) Speak to Win by Brian Tracy – good first book on public speaking
7) Web Copy That Wells by Maria Veloso – AWESOME BOOK AND MUST READ for those that want to create a better website.  I only wish I read this 4 years ago!

I’ve also invested a lot of time into learning more about health and eating healthy:

7) Bionutrition: Winning the War Within- The Amazing Health Benefits of Vitamin Supplements by Ray Strand
8) Healthy at 100 by John Robbins – very interesting read and inspires me to be even healthier!  It’s a great book and I never knew he was the son of the founder of Baskin Robbins ice cream!
9)Food Rules: An Eater’s Manual by Michael Pollan – very easy and simple to read.  Eating healthy is actually pretty easy!
10) SuperFoods Rx by Pratt and Mathews
– the 14 super foods that we should eat everyday!
11) Love & Respect: The Love She Most Desires; The Respect He Desperately Needs by Emerson Eggerichs- an awesome book.  Every couple should read this book
12) How to Balance Competing Time Demands by Sherman and Hendricks

13) The Next 100 Years by George Friedman
– very interesting “prediction” of what the next 100 years will be like.  Unlike most books, this is one of the few that are optimistic about USA’s future

This coming week will be USANA’s International Convention and our TEAM XLR8 Retreat in Park City.  This is always a great and fun time.  I’ll have tons of more updates soon!

God Bless,

Simon
