Simon Chan - Memories of an awesome month (#52)

Times flies. It’s mid October already and almost time for Halloween! September just came and went… It went so fast because it was a truly awesome month with family and fun. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, here are the highlights.

TRAVEL AND FAMILY TIME

ethan traveling to vancouver — In first week of September we went to Vancouver and took Ethan out on his first flight! He was such an awesome baby and Happy Camper!

family travel — It was an interesting experience traveling with Obi (a dog) and a baby at the same time. Look at how many bags we had! The funny thing was that 70% of the stuff in the bags were all baby stuff!

Simon and mom — I was in the east coast for a week and had an AWESOME and MEMORABLE weekend trip to Maryland with my mom. It was only a 2 day trip and we drove down there but it was a trip that I would remember for the rest of my life. Nothing beats spending quality time with my mommy. It took us 3 – 4 hours to drive down there. When I used to live in NYC, those would be considered “long drives” but now that I live in California and have done the 6 hour drive from LA to SF a few times, going to Maryland is a piece of cake. It was awesome to just drive and talk and create memories with my mommy. Trip was simple and nothing fancy but the conversation and sharing was what made it very special. I love her very much… it was a trip of a lifetime.

Simon, Ray and Theresa — While I was in NYC… I had a few quick business meetings and also time with my parents and great friends. Had a great time catching up with my Ray and Theresa Moran

ethan at 3 months — Ethan or “E”‘ is growing up fast! People tell us he is pretty advanced for his age… he started playing in the walker already around 3 1/2 months

ethan and kelly reading — Since self development and reading is so important, Kelly reads to Ethan every night before we put him to sleep.

simon and ethan reading — While mommy reads to Ethan in English, daddy reads to him in Mandarin

simon and kelly at vancouver — Vancouver is beautiful. Spent an afternoon at Granville Island walking around and had fresh seafood.

ethan with cousins — In Vancouver, Ethan got to meet his 2 beautiful cousins Ella (left) and Kayla.

Simon birthday dinner — Back in Los Angeles, my parents came to visit me on my birthday.

lunch in terrenea — Had a beautiful lunch out in Terrenea in Palos Verdes (Los Angeles)

ethan and alexa — Ethan got to meet his second cousin, Alexa for the first time. Isn’t Alexa beautiful?!!!

ONE LAST REASON WHY THIS WAS AN AWESOME MONTH…

One last reason why this was such an awesome month… I got tons of self development done and learned tremendously through audio books. For those who don’t have time to read, (or give the excuse they don’t have time to read), I highly recommend www.audible.com. I was able to go through some very good books that I would never have had the time to read such as Moneyball by Michael Lewis. Moneyball was such a great and intriguing read especially for sports fans. What motivated to take action to listen to the book was because the movie came out and I always choose to read/listen to the book before watching the movie. There were just so many interesting details in the book that the movie would never be able to portray. The book was so good that it motivated me to jog longer just so that I could keep on listening!

Asides from Moneyball, I also spent time listening to some very good books on internet marketing… here is what I listened to in September:

– Social Media 101 by Chris Brogan
– Inbound Marketing by Brian Halligan and Dharmesh Shah
– Free: Future of a Radical Price by Chris Anderson

Here is a funny thing… I go through audio books because I don’t have time to read certain books… but sometimes the books are so good that I end up going back and buying the book so that I can review it later on!

The audio books combined with the reading gave me new ideas to constantly change to grow both as a person and in business.
