The Best Investment You Can Make
I confess that I used to be a cheapskate when it came to investing in myself.
I would easily spend $30 on a lunch… or $100 going out with friends to a club or splurge $150 on a dinner to impress a girl…
But I was too cheap to even spend $15 on self development to get better at something!
That explains why I didn’t have any success in my first 2 months in MLM.
I earned $0. If there was anything I earned during those 8 weeks, it was only ridicule from my friends.
I didn’t understand that investing in my self development was the BEST investment I could make.
Self Development is the Best Investment You Can Make
Why it is the BEST investment you can make?
It beats investing in real estate, stocks, mutual funds, collectibles, etc. because those investments have limited returns.
Plus many of these investments have a lot of risk. If you have experience investing, you know that many of your investments LOSE money.
But let’s say you are a good investor and you make money.
You’d do well if you earned a 10% annual return on those investments. If you were wise enough to invest in Apple back in 1998, you may have gotten a 10,000% return!
But when you invest in yourself and in self development your return (ROI) is INFINITE!
Because you will never stop earning and reaping the rewards of your personal growth.
You will be wiser, happier, healthier and wealthier.
And the best part is that there is VERY LITTLE RISK when you invest in yourself!
Learning Equals Earning
This is ESPECIALLY TRUE if you are a MLM distributor.
The $100 you invest today may result in millions later on in your life.
But it wasn’t always that way.
I didn’t really understand this concept when I first became an entrepreneur.
When I first started my MLM career, I was too cheap.
Too cheap and blind to realize the reason I wasn’t making any money in MLM. I never did anything to get better at the skills I was weak in.
I couldn’t sponsor anyone cause I had poor prospecting skills.
And yet I was too cheap to do anything about it.
I thought my upline and team would do everything and then magically I would achieve success.
And then one day…
It took my mentor to wake me up and make me realize that self development was the MOST IMPORTANT investment I could make.
Out of desperation I took his advice and purchased Zig Ziglar’s Selling 101 on Amazon.
I read the book and applied what I learned. I was able to sponsor my first distributor a few weeks later.
And that made me realize the value of Self Development and how the return on that investment was infinite.
Examples of How Self Development Helped Me
I was able to sponsor people and earn weekly checks after I read a few books. But my MAIN GROWTH and TURNING POINT was when I started to invest more and started to attend seminars and events.
In the early 2000s, I invested in learning about online marketing. That taught me to find prospects online.
I was able to sponsor a few people that built a huge downline organization for me.
The course may have cost me $600 at the time but my return was INFINITE because of the the residual income earned for life!
Another example is back in early 2008.
I invested in learning about social media marketing. I started a Facebook advertising campaign that helped me find motivated prospects in the Philippines.
Today my organization in the Philippines totals over 60,000. My financial return from investing in that course was INFINITY!
I’ll be collecting residual income for my entire life.
Today, I easily spend over $50,000 a year on growing myself in all areas of my life.
As I have grown, not only has my income grown but I’ve been able to be a better husband, father, entrepreneur, leader, coach, trainer and healthier person.
