Hey Simon, I have one downline who stays in business for three months now but still very shy and cry easily . She didn’t come to the meeting much and didn’t get to our system . She said she want to do the business but everytime she talk to her friend she cant get on the “need” topic even the prospect’s need is obvious . For such low confidence downline , how do you motive such downline to break through the comfort zone ? She believes the products , but not so confidence about the business and herself … Shes not a complainer but she just didn’t move on…Sometimes I just feel sorry for her but don’t know how can I help her …

I can relate in some ways to your downline because I used to be very shy and had self esteem.
Actually, I’m still very shy in many ways but I’ve learned to conceal it.
Mentoring and Prospsecting Skills Training
This new distributor obviously wants to be successful and has potential.
Reason I say this is because:
1) she does not complain
2) she believes in the products
3) she has been in the business for 3 months already (most people quit right before 3 months)
How to Help Her with Training
What she needs is specific prospecting skills training and also mindset training to build her belief and self esteem.
What is she currently doing to improve her prospecting skills?
Probably not much…
And she is not going to your team meetings which means she probably gets no training at all.
If you just tell her to read a book, she probably won’t.
The best way to train her is to mentor her.
And the best form of mentoring is doing it with her.
3 Step Mentoring Process
Mentoring is best designed as:
Watch me Do
Do with Me
Do Alone
1) Have her Accompany You
Have her come with you and be next to you the next time you prospect.
You want her to see how easily it is done (whether it is meeting friends, cold market or prospecting on the phone)
And after she watches you, then she has to do it while you watch. And you give feedback.’
This helps in 2 ways:
1) She may be motivated after watching you do it. (to calm her fears, you can let her know that if she is stuck, she can give the phone to you and you can help her talk)
2) You get to see what she is doing wrong
If you do this a few times, she will get more comfortable and also you will know what her weakness is.
Self Development
You also have to get her to see the value of self development. She may be more open to this once she sees how you prospect and you share your story of how you have grown.
Recommend a basic communiation book like “How to Win Friends and Influence People” to get her on the right track.
When she reads the book, you can meet with her on weekly basis to go over what she has learned and applied.
Once she finishes Dale Carnegie, then she can read many of the 12 books and audios that I recommend for first year distributors in network marketing.
Building Self Esteem and Confidence
This is a little harder but you can help her in this area as well
There are 3 ways to help her.
1) Get her to see her Past Achievements
Remind her of her past successes.
Everyone has successes but we just may not see it as successes.
Some successes that we take for granted can be:
1) Musical talents such as playing a musical instrument: many people don’t know how to play!
2) Athletic talents
3) Graduating from School
4) Getting a good job
Many people take these for granted but these are all little succesess and they were NOT accomplished in 1 day. Whatever her success is, show her that since she has been successful in other areas in life, that she can be successful in network marketing as well.
2) Self Development
Of course you knew I was going to talk about self development!
Nothing builds your belief faster and makes you feel good then self development.
Motivational books and audios can inspire us to achieve great heights so make sure she is listening or reading something positive and motivating everyday.
Share Stories of Other Shy People
Finally you can share stories of other shy people (like myself) that have become successful in network marketing.
People always connect with stories better and the more stories you have the better.
Facts tell but stories sell!
Success is a Journey
Finally, teach her that success is a journey.
We want to be succesful not for the money but for the person that we will become.
And success takes time and patience.
You are a great example of success already and you can share your experiences of how your daily commitment allowed you to slowly grow each day.
