Memories from Past week
I can’t believe it’s November already! Time flies by so fast.
I remember back in June when I was shopping for my next car. I had planned the purchase for November. At that time, I didn’t have to worry about the details because it seemed so far away, but now it is right around the corner!
If you didn’t see the Facebook post back in June, I was very excited when I sold my wife, Kelly, on the idea to get a big, Chevrolet Suburban, as opposed to a minivan.
I want the extra space and safety, and there is no car out there that beats the Suburban!
So that will be the next Chan mobile, but we may have to wait a few more weeks since I’ve been extremely busy with an exciting business project and, also, with life as a dad.
Visit from my Mommy
It was a crazy busy but happy week as my Mommy visited me the whole week. I was really happy that she got to meet Brendan for the first time, and also spend time with Ethan.
I love my Mommy very much, and we have grown closer and closer over the years.
It’s interesting to see how grandparents all spoil their grandkids.
No matter how much they say they won’t spoil them, they do. It’s like an inherent gene that turns on automatically once they have grandkids.
My Mommy used to be so tough on us, but she seems like such a weakling now with Ethan. She was hoping that Ethan could skip a few days of school to spend time with her!
When I was growing up, my Mommy never would have even thought of a thing like that! Forget about skipping a day, even leaving school an hour early would have been a big no-no!
Three Happy Daddy Events This Past Week
Three big things happened this week.
1) My newborn son, Brendan (弟弟), turned one month old.
The one month milestone is a big deal for Chinese culture, and normally we keep the babies “locked inside the house” until 30 days have passed.
Of course we have taken Brendan out to see the doctors, but aside from that, we haven’t let anyone meet or see him. I don’t know that much about Chinese culture, but I think a big reason is to keep the germs away from baby and also keep the baby safe.
2) Trick or Treating with Ethan
I’ve grown closer and closer to Ethan each day. It’s amazing how much he can talk!
He’s very tall (I think it’s 99% percentile for his age.), but he’s a little behind in terms of athletic ability.
But when it comes to talking… wow… I think he is way ahead.
I believe one of the reasons his communication skills are very advanced is because I’m always at home and speak to him a lot. My mother-in-law also spent a lot of time talking to him in Chinese when he was born. And of course, since Day 1, we read to him every day.
Last week, we went Trick or Treating again. It was a blast.
As a kid, I’d gone Trick or Treating only one time, but I think I’m enjoying it much more as an adult than if I had gone frequently as a kid.
As Ethan gets older and older, it’s becoming more fun. This year, he got to repeat as the Cookie Monster!
Ethan’s First Day at Soccer Camp
I also took Ethan to his first day at soccer practice at the LA Galaxy Junior Camp.
I’ve always wanted to spend time with my kids playing sports, so this was a major highlight for me. I’ve been waiting for this day since I first learned about the weekly soccer classes!
He was a little unsure of himself, but afterwards, he told me had a lot of fun and wants to go back next week!
New iPad Air
This year is also the year where I’ve planned to make major hardware investments for my business.
Yes, they are all Apple products!
My three main goals this year were to purchase:
1) New iPhone 5S,
2) New iPad, and
3) a New desktop computer
This past Friday, on Nov. 1, I went online and purchased the new iPad Air at 12:07am, which was six minutes after it was made available for sale.
By the way, maybe it’s because I was upgrading from an iPad 2, but the new iPad Air is SIMPLY AWESOME! It is so light, thin, small and FAST! It is SOOOO fast.
I’m a heavy user on my iPad for reading and work, and I must spend at least two hours a day on it. My old one was starting to slow down and the difference the new one makes is night and day.
Anyway, that’s enough raving about the iPad Air.
One of the reasons I love Apple products is because of their simplicity.
If you don’t believe it is simple, when Ethan was less than two years old, he learned how to turn it on, swipe, and launch apps by pointing at them, and then go back to the Home screen.
Apple’s genius is that you NEVER need to read a manual to learn how to use their products!
Not only are the products simple to use, but they are so simple to purchase and receive the product.
Normally, I would get the products shipped to me, but because my Mommy was in town, I decided to do something different. I purchased online, and then took her and my 84-year-old grandfather for a nice day at Manhattan Beach to pick up the products at the Apple Store at Manhattan Village.
Once I walked into the Apple Store, I was greeted very nicely, and in less than three minutes, I had my new iPad Air in my hands.
So simple and quick!
Apple makes it simple and easy for their best customers to purchase and get what they want.
Do You Make Your MLM Business Simple?
If you have a network marketing business, do you experience any of these challenges?
1) Have trouble getting people to sign up,
2) Have tough time getting people to buy the products, or
3) Can’t get your downlines to duplicate?
If you are facing these problems, a big reason is because your business is not simple enough.
Your entire business and process must be simple.
Everything from the initial prospecting process to training your new distributors must be simple and easy. Anyone should be able to do it.
Here are some common mistakes that you may be making:
1) Are you talking too much doing a presentation?
The more you talk, the more you turn off your prospect. Not only do you sound like a salesperson, but you also can appear “too smart” and the business requires “too much time to study” in order to be successful.
2) Do you make it difficult for your prospects to sign up by making them fill out the entire application form?
All they really need to do is sign the bottom and you can fill out the rest. Just think about the last time you had to fill out a form renting or buying a car. Did they make you fill out the entire form, or did they highlight it and make it easy for you?
3) Do you overwhelm your new distributors with too much training information?
Do you send out emails with five links and attachments that no one has the time to read? Or do you send small bits of information that are easy to consume and digest?
By the way, for the initial training immediately after a new distributor signs up, all you really need to do is to teach them how to invite their prospects!
Everything else can wait. Too much information will simply overwhelm and distract them.
A Simple Duplicatable System
One of the reasons my S.O.W. SPONSORING SYSTEM has helped so many distributors sponsor and duplicate is because it is simple to learn and teach.

Finally… I Appreciate You
Thanks for taking the time each week to read my posts.
Your time is valuable, and it is a big compliment that you set aside time to read my emails and blog posts.
I feel that each one of you is a part of me, and I love sharing with all of you.
The funny thing is, each week, I want to limit my blog posts to only 500 words, but I have so much to share that I always go over. If you are counting, this week’s post is already more than 2½ times the 500-word limit that I set!
Have a great week and remember to keep things simple!
Sincerely,
Simon Chan
