The Joy of Giving

Yesterday, I went Trick or Treating for the first time ever as a new parent!

Actually, it was only the second time I’ve ever been to Trick or Treating EVER in my life.  The last time I went was when I was 6 years old and I was dressed as Spiderman.  All I remember was that I hated putting the mask on since the rubber band attached to the mask bothered my hair.  Not only that, the mask made it hard to breathe and made me hot!  And then during that year, there was an “epidemic” of accidents where kids died cause they ate candies because bad people hid needles inside candies given to Trick or Treaters.  That ‘epidemic” scared my parents and they never took me to Trick or Treat again.  By the way, years later, I learned that the “needles inside candy” epidemic was a fabricated urban legend that never really happened.  It was just 1 out of a million chance that it happened to someone and the media (of course)  blew it out of proportion.  Your chance of dying in a car accident is a million times higher than having your kid eat poisoned candy.  Regardless, I never went Trick or Treating again and I didn’t care cause I just remember how much I hated the mask!

We only took Ethan to a few houses and then he got tired… So we went back home to get ready for the neighborhood kids that came over.

THE JOY OF GIVING

This was also the first time in my life that I gave out candy on Halloween.  For one reason or another, every year, we seem to be out for dinner or doing something and never home so this year I was looking forward to giving out candy.  I got a huge bag of chocolates and was ready for the kids to ring the door bell.

The kids did not disappoint me since they came and came and came… Poor Obi got the biggest workout since he barks every time someone rings the bell and he must have gotten up at least 100 times!

The best part of the experience was seeing the smile of the kids as I dropped candy into their bags.  It feels awesome to know that you can make someone smile and happy.  🙂

The joy of giving is always better than the joy of receiving.  When you receive a gift, you become happy by yourself.  When you give, you share happiness around the world.

Start to give more today… the more you give, the happier you will be.

Are you in a career or business that allows you to give and help others?

If you want to change your career, start a business or be involved with something that allows you to help others, contact me.

The best advice is from Zig Ziglar, “If you help enough people get what they want in life, you can have everything you want in life.”

Start giving more today.

In my country, Halloween just has a little bit influence on Vietnamese’s life. So we enjoy it in many different ways.
Halloween is not just for terrible, ugly faces and marterials. I have spent most of my time on talking with my buddies, listening them to share life moments.

Enjoy the Joy of Giving and Receiving 🙂

Bui, Thanks for your comments! You are right. The best moments in life is time spent with your relationships.. just talking to buddies and sharing life moments! When you share and spend your time to listen to others, you are doing the ultimate “giving” 🙂

Nice to know that there are people like you who really go out of their way to share their blessings. For us is part of our life and became a passion to be of help others. I may not have a wealth to share but most importantly is we are willing to be with others in times sharing your time, knowledge and skills. At times our mare presence is more than enough. Wanted to know more about your business inorder to expand more to those who are most in need. Most often the not it frustrates us when an individual or group approach you for material help and you give nothing. This bleeds my heart hence, my interest to know more about what you have been doing to help more people as you said. Thanks and congratulations. may your tribe multiply…

Thanks for all the message. I am glad you share this kind of thing to us. I love to give , during CHRISTmas and not on halloween day. My positive outlook in life is give as CHRIST gave his life to us.

Giving is not the only matter of material things. There’s a lot of things to give to others by not touching your penny and dimes. And one of them is your time , prayer and concern .Giving things are just added to the flavor of life and a joy to the receiver. And one of the law of life is giving. And as you give you too will benefited by what you give and enjoy it .
