Happy Holidays… Recap of past few months of travel, fun and new toys!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Another year has come and flown by.  Seems like every year goes by faster and faster!  2010 has been a great year of learning… not just about business but about life.  I’m grateful for everything I have and thank God for all the blessings.  To sum up 2010… 2010 has been a year of “investment” in both my personal and business life… new seeds were planted and 2011 will be when the seedlings will sprout.

Since I last wrote, tons of happened.  Here is a recap of the exciting things that have gone by…

simon mountain biking
Aug 2010 – I went mountain biking for the first time in Midway, Utah and it was AWESOME! Funny how I’ve had a mountain bike for over 10 years and this was the first time a city boy like me went on hard core trails. It was tough… super tough but a TON OF FUN! I’m going to have to do this again.. and again!
convention
2010 USANA INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION – Awards night with Sam Young (who won Teamwork Award out of over 200,000 associates) and Ruby Director, John Goerlitz
fun run
2010 USANA INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION – this year I finally made decision to wake up at early and run the Children Hunger Fund 5k Charity run. I was going to just run it for fun but my teammates, Cameron Harrison, Kevin Bowes and Bob Oliver got my competitive juices going… I ended up going all out and “killing myself” (look at my facial expression)… I surprised myself and ended up coming in 8th out of over 1500 runners!
simon and kelly at fun run
Both Kelly and I had a GREAT time at the run. We are definitely going to do it again next year!
bridesmaid
Sept 19, 2010 – next stop was Vancouver where my beautiful wife, Kelly, was bridesmaid at a wedding. Isn’t Kelly pretty?!!!
wedding
Sept 19, 2010 – attended the beautiful wedding of Jennifer Chen and Kelvin Fong. Believe it or not, this wedding had over 100 people and was done at the backyard of Jennifer’s house!!!
sushi
Vancouver has the BEST SUSHI in the world! BEST QUALITY and best prices! Can you believe the toros were only $1 USD each?!!!
hilton
Sept 20 – 24, 2010 – Next stop was Hilton Head, South Carolina. I went there to help support my leaders Laura Sterling and Dr. Sam Young. We are busy working at the “kitchen home office!”
gathering
When I came back, I achieved one of my dreams of serving the Lord. I’ve always wanted to use my talents to give back and decided in June to mentor and teach Sunday School to high school kids. I’ve taught a few lessons so far and it’s been very enjoyable and also helped me grow in my faith as well. Here is a pic of our holiday party gathering.
mark
Oct. 19, 20, 2010 – Hong Kong and then Beijing. I was in Hong Kong for less than 24 hours… had to run some errands and didn’t even have time to take a photo!… on Oct. 20, I was in Beijing and spent time with one of my partners, Mark Bourne. (with his Alaskan Husky puppy). Mark was a great host and we spent over 90 minutes walking around in Beijing on a “walking tour”. I loved it… we walked from Dong Zhimeng to Xing Tian Di!
team xlr8
Oct. 21 – 26 – Next stop was Malaysia. We did a Team XLR8 training and gathering afterwards
swimming pool
Malaysia – Thanks to Steven Goh, I was able to stay at an AWESOME house that he designed in Country Heights (Kuala Lumpur). This was the swimming pool in the backyard!
speaker
Oct. 30, 2010 – next stop was the Philippines! I was one of the featured speakers at their annual Philippines Celebration. I spoke on the importance of Building 4 Beliefs that are critical for your business’ success (Belief in Yourself, Company, Industry and Products)
simon on stage
On stage speaking at the Philippines Celebration in Manila
team xlr8
Team XLR8 Philippines Team Photo – I am so proud of our team and thankful to our leaders Ed Miguel and Mel Clarion. It all started out with a vision and 2 people… and now we have the LARGEST team in the Philippines! Our team was so big that this photo shoot was WAY TOO hard to coordinate and we couldn’t even fit everyone in! Next year, we will need a better shoot location! (can you find where I am?!)
california
Nov 4 – 7, 2010 – next stop was MY FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WORLD! Carmel, California! I just love the air, the people and the atmosphere!
castle
Dream House on 17 Mile Drive, Pebbles Beach – one of my favorite things to do up in Carmel is bike along 17 Mile Drive in Pebbles Beach and do some “dream building” and look at the mansions there… This was my “Dream Home” and I had written about it over a year ago… this year, I was determined to find out the “front” of the house!
dream house
Dream House found! – Thanks to Google Maps, you can find anything anywhere now! I was able to locate the address and with help of my iPhone map, I found the front of the “Dream House!”
ryan and jacob
My bro, Ryan and his little man came to visit us in Carmel. Little man, Jacob is growing up nicely!
jacob
Jacob has no idea of what to do with this burger… Can you believe this burger came from the “kids menu”?!!! I wonder how big the normal burger would be!!!
cousins
Thanksgiving 2010 – we had a great dinner at my cousin, Katherine’s house for Thanksgiving. Got to meet my aunt and uncle who I have not seen in over 20 years!
meeting cousins
Week after Thanksgiving, I got to meet my cousin, Peter that I’ve never met before. Peter and his wife are doctors and were visiting from Temple, Texas
working
Back at the “Home Office” working… It never gets boring since Obi keeps me company. This is how he spends his days!
monitors
I have my home office upgraded and treated myself to Apple’s 30 inch Cinema Display! I’ve been wanting one of these for over 2 years! It is awesome and so much more productive! (and it is the anti glossy matte screen). With the extra real estate, I can get more done in less time. I love it!
Simon and Obi
Speaking of Obi, he is a happy camper! He’s also got his own Facebook page where new pictures and video are uploaded. Obi has hit over 5400 fans now!
Simon and new car
Nov. 2010 – I finally got the car I’ve wanted for so long. Mercedes ML 550! With 382 hp, it has an AWESOME RIDE! I love SUVs cause of the size and you ride higher… (this is my 4th SUV and I’ve only had SUVs in my life)… but this car drives like a sports car!
Simon's bike
Dec. 2010 – new bike! CANNONDALE BADBOY ULTRA SOLO – This was Kelly’s belated birthday gift for me. (it was not available in Sept). I’ve been wanting to get this for over a year now… the bike ROCKS! It rides so well in the city… It is meant for city biking and meant to be used and abused! I love the black matte design!
ruby director
Dec. 10, 2010 – Congrats to Billy and Josephine Dela Fuente! They are Team XLR8’s new Ruby Directors (earning over $2600 USD/week) in the Philippines! I met Billy about 2 years ago and seen him grow. At the time, Billy was looking for an opportunity while his wife was working at the Rennaisance hotel. Today both Billy and Josephine are full time in USANA and doing awesome! I am really proud of them.

The New Year also brings up New Goals and Resolutions!  What are your goals and resolutions for 2011?  Here is a tip and advice: Before you start on your New Year’s Goals, take a few minutes to write down everything that went well and you are grateful for!  Write down the great things that happened in 2010.  Being thankful and having a clear mind will not only help you set more realistic goals, it will also motivate you towards changing the habits that will help you achieve the goals.

Until next time,

God Bless,

Simon
