Ed and Shanne Miguel
Last week I was super excited to meet up with one of my good friends, Ed Miguel and his family.
Ed is a Diamond Director and is one of the “founding fathers” of my organization in the Philippines.
This post is dedicated to Ed Miguel and his family. I am grateful and appreciate everything that he has done.
I lost count but the last time I ran a report, I had over 60,000 downlines in the Philippines. Supposedly 95% of my company’s sales from that country come from my organization.
I don’t know if that is still true or not because every time I run a database report, it takes forever to give me those numbers and then the browser quits and times out.
If it wasn’t for Ed and our other good friend, Mel Clarion, for their vision back in 2008, none of this would have happened.
I used to go back to the Philippines at least 5 – 6 times a year to grow my business but thanks to the passive income that MLM provides and for outstanding leaders like Ed, I don’t need to travel as much as I used to.
I also don’t like to travel much now because I prefer to spend time with my kids.
I do miss the Philippines though…
I get asked all the time when I will go back. I wish I could but it’s super tough to leave my 3 boys at home by themselves. I’ll have to wait for my kids to get older before I take them.
I would also NEVER want to travel on a 15 hour flight with a 3 year old and 10 month old baby! And neither would the passengers around me!
Since I don’t go back to the Philippines much, it was a great blessing when I found out that Ed and his family was visiting Los Angeles. I took them to a nice place to eat in Redondo Beach.
We had a great time but what was amazing was how much our lives changed since we first met in September 2008.
New Market Openings
When the Philippines market first opened up for my MLM company, I created an online marketing strategy to expand into that market.
I love pioneering the opening of new markets because it is a fantastic way to grow MLM business super fast.
It’s like opening the first McDonalds in your city. If you open one today, you can still be profitable but imagine if you opened the FIRST McDonald’s in your area? You would grow so much faster.
And in many ways, that is how it works in MLM as well.
New market openings are a shortcut to your success. I made sure I played huge roles in opening both the Malaysia and Philippines markets for my company.
If you are interested in being a pioneer and launching your business into the next new market, you should check out my MLM Empire Recipe.
It gives you the exact details on what you need to do (for i.e. how often should you visit, what type of apartment you should rent out, etc.) and also warns you what you MUST do before you consider serious expansion.
Ed Miguel’s Life When I Met Him
Once I learned that my company was going to open up in the Philippines in September 2008, I created a social media strategy to generate Filipino leads.
Ed Miguel and I met through Facebook. Before we knew it we were talking on the phone.
Life wasn’t always so good for Ed and his wife Shanne back in 2008.
Ed was a struggling businessman. Business was so bad that his wife Shanne had to leave the family and find work in the USA. That was the only way for them to support the family.
Shanne would work as a cleaning lady in Los Angeles and send money back home.
After I talked to Ed, he realized the amazing opportunity with my MLM company and wanted to get to know me better.
He was already impressed with my company but he was being very selective in WHO he was joining and started to put me through a series of meetings and “interviews.”
After we talked long distance a few times, we were scheduled to meet in Manila face to face. But at the last minute, Ed scheduled another “last minute interview” for me.
Just three days before we were supposed to meet in person, Ed still wanted me to meet his wife in Los Angeles and make sure I got her approval.
My wife and I drove to Glendale, California at 1145pm on a Saturday night and met Ed’s wife Shanne and her brother Dave. I shared my MLM opportunity with them while Ed and his nephew Nat Sunio were on Skype watching me.
Our Ability to Help Others
When I first met Shanne, I felt bad for Ed and his family.
I sympathized for a mother that had to leave her children and made it a goal to help them. I saw the hunger and desire they had to change their lives.
The meeting touched my heart and I realized how many people in this world needed help.
The beautiful part of MLM is that it can change lives. It allows me to fulfill my purpose driven life to “have a positive impact on as many lives as possible.”
Three days after my meeting with Shanne, I arrived in Manila and the first person I met at the Ascott Hotel was Ed Miguel and his nephew Nathaniel Sunio. That was the beginning of our MLM journey in the Philippines.
People Buy You
My experience with Ed Miguel was a great example of how people buy YOU.
The most important factor in getting someone to join you or buy your products is YOU.
Ed was super skeptical and was very careful in the person he was going to partner with and did a lot of research.
Not only was he concerned about my MLM company but as a leader, he realized that the PERSON he joined was very important.
Not only did he meet other leaders from my MLM company, but he also interviewed and met all my downline leaders so that he would be joining under the right person in the right part of my organization.
Experienced leaders all know that it is NOT just about the company; but the leader that they are joining which plays the ultimate factor in their success.
So that’s why you must be attending trainings and committing to self development everyday. Whether you realize it or not, people are always watching you.
You always have to ask yourself this question,
“If a superstar leader meets you today, will they be impressed enough to partner and join you?”
Will they be impressed with your attitude?
Will they be impressed with your dedication to growing yourself?
Will they be impressed with your commitment to success?
Those are just some of the questions that you must ask yourself.
If you want to grow faster so that you attract better prospects, one of the best investments you can make is Insider’s Circle.
I recently sent out an email that asked whether or not you would buy a computer from a company that said you were purchasing the best computer. Since it was the best they would never invest any more money into making future models better.
Would you trust a company that doesn’t invest in R&D? (Research and Development?)
If you don’t, then why would your prospects trust you and join you?
That’s why you must invest in yourself everyday.
People Always Buy Your Commitment
I was lucky for Ed to join me.
It was one of the lucky moments in my MLM career.
He could have joined other leaders but he chose me. I am so grateful to him for our partnership.
After my Philippines business exploded I always thought back to the day Ed and I first met and why he joined me.
He joined me even though I wasn’t the top income earner or the best leader.
The reason he joined me was because of my commitment.
I wasn’t the smartest nor the best…
but I could say I was the most committed.
Out of all the leaders, I was the only one who signed a 2 year apartment lease and committed to the Philippines market.
I also convinced 2 of my top USA leaders to move to the Philippines. That showed my support and commitment to the market.
I didn’t just talk about commitment but I showed it in my actions.
I have tons of stories to share. Not all of them are good but every one of them was a lesson that helped me grow to where I am today.
Action Is More Important Than Words
Your ACTION always speaks louder than words.
Remember how I said Ed took the time to interview my own downline leaders so that he would join in the right part of my organization?
Many of the leaders he talked to on the phone said they would commit but they never traveled to the Philippines.
They said they would come but never did.
My downline leader that he eventually joined under was in the Philippines. He was meeting Ed face to face while others were just talking online and still “saying” they would come.
Action always speaks louder than words.
Having a Positive Impact
Thanks to the success of their MLM business, today, Ed and Shanne Miguel are the top 1% income earners in the entire Philippines.
They went from Class D to Class A income status.
They no longer live in a cramped house. They have the freedom to travel around the world.
Their passive income from their business allows them to spend quality time with their children and give them experiences that other kids in Philippines don’t have.
Their visit to Los Angeles was just part of their 4 – 5 week holiday in the USA. It was a great feeling for me to see how far they have come.
Ed is an amazing leader and I want to express my gratitude and appreciation to Ed and Shanne Miguel for everything they have done.
Thanks to their leadership and for contributing to the MLM profession.
They deserve every success they have been blessed with.
I’m also grateful for how the MLM profession can help couples like Ed and Shanne Miguel.
MLM is a great win-win.
You get to create an asset that generates passive income and along the way you can help deserving people like Ed and Shanne Miguel.
Remember, we are in the profession to help others so make sure we all go out there today and have a positive impact on others.
The future Ed and Shanne Miguels are waiting for us.
