One of the most effective (but not fun) ways to grow a successful network marketing business is to cold call business-minded people straight from the phone book or online directory. Some examples of motivated individuals that are smart and business minded that you can find easily online or on the yellow pages are real estate agents or owners of small businesses.
The script below works especially well with people who already have big ads that show off their businesses. It works well because these people either are already successful (they are the “S” type in S.O.W.) or they have big egos and it is easy to flatter them and get their attention. The “S” in S.O.W. stands for “Successful People more Successful than you.” Refer to Video 1 of my 5 Star Prospecting Workshop to learn about this important group of prospects and how to talk to them.
Network Marketing Cold Calling Script
Below is a sample script that I have used and works well.
Hi, can I speak to John Smith?
Yes, this is John. Who is this?
My name is Simon Chan and I work for a 20 year company that is currently expanding our operations in the Atlanta area and we are looking for people who are smart and have a good business mind…. and from your ad and online profile, you seem to be that type of person. Someone with your experience can earn anywhere from an extra $1,000 to $5,000 a week on a part time basis. Would you be interested to learn more?
If they ask you what it is, you can use the Effective Presentation Formula and say:
If they say yes…
Then you either give them a quick 10 – 15 minute phone presentation or set up a time for to either meet in person, present on the phone or attend an online webinar.
We work with a 20 year old company that is publicly traded and is based out in Salt Lake City, Utah. We are in the health industry and we carry mostly nutritional and weight loss products and over 50% of Americans used our type of products already. You can earn anywhere from $100 – $200 a month part time, to $500 – $2000 a month to over $5000 a month depending on how much time you put into it. We provide 2 types of training. We have the optional classroom trainings, online webinars and we have the “on the job” training where a mentor will be assigned to you.

You Don’t Need Them but They Need You!
I’ve had tremendous success with this script but the key is to be CONFIDENT and talk with POSTURE.
Remember, they need you but you don’t need them because you got the great opportunity that will change their life!
You don’t need them because if they say no, you simply go to the next person on the phone book!
and… You got TONS AND TONS AND THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE YOU CAN CALL and you have limited time!

Great post, Simon. I like cold calling myself. Your sample script is really good. The bottom line is that we need to leverage the phone and work smart. It is quite perhaps the easiest, fastest and most time effective way to build your network marketing business.
